Where is Austria? Let me take you on a little tour to show you where I live.   We will start at the very top - or at least very high. The first map shows the whole of Europe (and quite a bit of Afrika and Asia too). Austria is nearly completely hidden behind that red star.   Now we are getting closer. The map above shows Austria (although still without a name - the star will have to do) and the neighbouring countries.   Here you see Austria in all its glory, along with the five biggest cities. The faint lines are the borders of the nine counties of Austria. If you dont find the ninth county - thats Wien (Vienna).   And the final map shows the most important part of Austria - the part where I live. I live in Linz - which is strategically placed in the center of the map. If you go to the north-west of Linz you find a dwelling called Herzogsdorf and close to that is the house that my parents have bought.     © 1997-99 Thomas Prückler
